ProCoat's Powder Coating process provides a tough protective surface that can be custom tailored to meet the exacting demand of almost any metal coating application. Powder Coating far surpasses the capabilities of ordinary paint while still allowing the same colorful, creative freedom. The ranges of finishes and colors is limited only by your imagination! From flat to high gloss, metal flake to pearlescent, hammertoned to veined, custom color matching to crystal clears - Powder Coating does it all! ProCoat's technology pushes the envelope in the protection you can expect from metal finishing. Powder Coating provides excellent corrosion resistance to salt sprays, and moisture. Specially formulated UV protective powders inhibit color fading while retaining their durability.

THE PROCESS:

The oven temperate is set. The first phase of the coatings process is mediablasting your project to remove all coatings/rust/flash rust if needed. Then your project is submerged into our 4-tank (one specifically designed for aluminum, and one designated for steel)  3-stage pretreatment tanks which contain detergents to thoroughly clean all surface oil and contaminants, including hand prints containing oils and acids!! Steel parts are combined with phosphoric acid to create a conversion coating known as iron-phosphate. If the part is a soft alloy, aluminum, brass, copper, etc., fluoride will etch the part to expose new metal and some phosphate conversion coating will occur. This conversion coating provides two important benefits; maximum adhesion for all types of coatings, and a major reduction in undercutting in the event the coating is ever cut down to bare metal. Your project is hung on our rack and rolled into our oven to dry. Once your project has cooled down from the "drying" phase, all threaded areas are plugged, masking is applied as required and/or requested, and the project is rolled into our spray booth for the coatings application. The last phase of the coating process is rolling the part back into the oven for the powder coating to cure (approximately 20 minutes at 425°). Once your project has finished the curing cycle, it is rolled out of our oven and cooled down. Your project has to meet all stages of our quality control inspection. Then, and only then, your project is ready to be returned to you, our satisfied Customer, the MOST important phase of our process.
